Cinepoetics Lecture #12: Patricia Pisters "A Trail of Blood. Women Directors and the Poetics of Horror" (25.11)
News from Nov 07, 2019
The horror genre has been revolving around questions of gender from its very beginning. These extend from the damsel in distress that is held captive by a male monster to the abject monstrous-feminine and the final girl in modern horror films of the 70s and 80s. It is only since the beginning of the 21st century that female directors started to actively appropriate the aesthetics of horror in their own films. In her lecture "A Trail of Blood. Women Directors and the Poetics of Horror“, Patricia Pisters (University of Amsterdam) examines the works of contemporary female filmmakers and their own alternative perspective on the poetics of this genre
Afterwards, SCREENING ÉVOLUTION (Lucile Hadžihalilović, F/E/B 2015) will be screened. Cinepoetics cordially invites you to join us on November 25 at 6:00 pm at the Kino Arsenal, Potsdamer Platz (Berlin). Admission is free for the lecture.
