mediaesthetics #3: 'Genre & Affect' out now
News from May 20, 2020
The third issue of our annual journal mediaesthetics - Journal of Poetics of Audiovisual Images is now available online.
It features five articles on 'genre & affect' that work with vast audiovisual material. All of which following our hypothesis that genre cinema can be understood as a system of different expressive modalities addressing viewers in an affective manner and opening up a commonly shared space of feeling. As such, the articles open up a vast reference system from war and sports films to German TV-crime-films, recent European auteur cinema, as well as the poetics of a viral YouTube video.
