As much as Jean-Luc Godard's PASSION has wandered away from script, text, and narration, the film has created a transitional space in which images react on images and paintings as well as cinema itself put the visual to the test. Following the question of what images are and do, Joseph Vogl (Humboldt University Berlin) dedicates his lecture towards various components of an ontology of images and follows a research "within the image" ("Im Innern des Bildes") - a path into a possible and yet unborn world.
