Catherine Wheatley
Catherine Wheatley is a lecturer in film studies at King's College London. Her research interests include film and philosophy, film and religion, European cinema and critical theory, and especially spectator theory. Wheatley's major publications include books on Michael Haneke, such as Caché/Hidden (British Film Institute 2012) and Michael Haneke's Cinema: The Ethic of the Image (Berghahn, 2009), and Stanley Cavell and Film: Scepticism and Self-Reliance at the Cinema (Bloomsbury, 2019). She is also author of articles, including "The Third City: The Post-Secular Space of the Dardenne Brothers' Seraing" for Film-Philosophy. Her research currently focuses on the notion of wonder in film and media, and how it is discussed in contemporary debates about race, secularization, and climate change.
