Anna Steininger is a video artist and a graduate “visual artist”. Her work features an elaborate examination of digital phenomena and a distinct approach to visual art foregrounding relations between visual figurations and epistemology. In the past she has worked as a researcher at the University of Jena and at Freie Universität Berlin.

As artist-in-residence at Cinepoetics, Anna Steininger will work on her art project, “Bild-Zeiten”, producing audiovisual forms of representation based on Iconic Data Collections. The project focuses on relations of visual representations and experiences of temporality.

The dynamics within the development of Iconic Data Collections call for results that are to be conceived of as editable and modifiable composites exploring new visual logics and narrative forms. “Bild-Zeiten” thus not only contributes to the analysis of audiovisual images and forms of thinking emerging from them; rather, the project itself takes part in this emergence.
