Drehli Robnik
Drehli Robnik is a freelance essayist and theorist on history, politics and film.He received his Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam and has worked as an external lecturer at universities in Vienna, Brno and Frankfurt. Robnik writes and publishes on Kracauer and Rancière, popular cinema, and horror film.
Since 1991, he writes film reviews for the Viennese weekly, Falter, among others. He is the organizer of the loose lecture and micro-conference series Politik-Projektionen at Depot, Vienna. Robnik's publications include Geschichtsästhetik und Affektpolitik. Stauffenberg und der 20. Juli im Film 1948–2008 (turia+kant, 2009), Kontrollhorrorkino: Gegenwartsfilme zum prekären Regieren (turia+kant, 2015), as well as Ansichten und Absichten. Texte über populäres Kino und Politik (FilmmuseumSynema, 2022). His latest book on political concepts in the work of Siegfried Kracauer will be published by transcript in November 2023.
