Eyal Peretz
Eyal Peretz is Professor of Comparative Literature at Indiana University, Bloomington. His work focuses primarily on questions of aesthetics and metaphysics in the so-called age of post-Enlightenment. Peretz' research reaches into fields of literary theory, philosophy, psychoanalysis, and film studies. At the intersection of film and philosophy, his work includes the publications Becoming Visionary: Brian de Palma's Cinematic Education of the Senses (2007) and The Off-Screen: An Investigation of the Cinematic Frame (2017). Peretz' current interest lies in the study of Leonardo da Vinci's pictorial logic, designating his painting practice as a turning point in the history of images and as a critical transitional moment between sacred images and modern painting.
