Christian Keathley
Christian Keathley is Walter J. Cerf Distinguished Professor of Film and Media Culture at Middlebury College in Vermont. In his many years of academic research in film, he has published on various topics such as film aesthetics, film history, film & literature, the French New Wave, and the question of authorship in the cinema. He has published in the magazines Screen, MOVIE, and The Cine-Files among others. He is one of the co-founders and editors of the renowned journal [in]Transition: Journal of Videographic Film & Moving Image Studies, which was awarded the Anne Friedberg Innovative Scholarship Award of Distinction by the Society for Cinema and Media Studies in 2015. He is currently working on a video essay by the name of The Signature Effect, in which he explores the connections between himself and two of his namesakes, the Hollywood director William Keighley and the town of Keighley in England.
