Freie Universität Berlin, Collaborative Research Centre 1171 "Affective Societies", Subproject C06: 2015–2023

The subproject investigated from a media studies perspective how audiovisual media stage types of German-Turkish communal life in their success and failure. These media were analyzed as tactical appropriations of dominant forms of Western entertainment culture. The question was, how they relate to processes of German-Turkish community building, and which function they have in such processes. The project worked out theoretical foundations of the research center in regard to the media-based modulation of affective dynamics.
